Periphery
In addition to the four primary or core natural forms, there is a collection of depictions of at least forty other natural forms, such as fish, armadillos, snails, and insects, among others, as well as ceremonial objects including polished mirrors, self-sacrifice awls, and dart throwers. All of them are common in Mesoamerica, although not all have been identified in every culture.
These peripheral figures may appear on their own or in combination with the core natural forms, as part of their clothing, accessories, or as objects present in the scene
